Founding Story & Leadership

John Byler’s journey to founding the BISON Foundation began with a life-altering car accident that resulted in a mild traumatic brain injury. Navigating the complexities of recovery, he faced firsthand the challenges and isolation that often accompany such injuries. This personal experience ignited a passion within him to support others facing similar struggles. Drawing upon his Mennonite heritage, which emphasizes community and service, John relocated to Kansas—a place with deep familial and spiritual roots—to establish the BISON Foundation (Brain Injury Support: Operational & Neurological). Through this organization, he aims to provide resources, advocacy, and a sense of community for brain injury survivors. Additionally, as a musician, John integrates the therapeutic power of music into the foundation’s initiatives, offering hope and healing through melody and rhythm.(LinkedIn, Facebook)
